Volunteerism....Community Service anyone?
Jun. 15th, 2002 03:12 pmI have continued an involvement with the Resource Center of Dallas this week.
I have joined the Hot Meals team in the kitchen to prepare lunch for the Dallas PWA's.
The kitchen staff are all a little odd though. My theory is that some have had a hard life and had odd coping skills and/or the HIV meds are causing a bit of dementia and/or the HIV itself is causing some neuron misfires. In any case it is a hoot to be around them......chaos yet lunch gets served on time!
Today, in addition to safer-sex packet making,(which I have been doing for nearly a year now) I attended STD 101. I knew a lot of the information due to being a biology major in college (taking graduate level immunology and bacteriology) and working in the healthcare field now. I did re-remember a few things though. *grin*
So now I can head to being an adviser/community contact person......just in case I wanna do that. (still contemplating that)
Today is a good day.
