Well 07/04/02 wasn't as bad I thought at work....actually good *shrug*

Last night was a bit intense...I had a diabetic, a sickle cell kid with blood as thin as water and a shunt kid that was gorked out on me.

Diabetic : shoo...go home...you need to drink more water!

Shunt kid: shoo..go home...you have a god-damn ear infection not a shunt malfunction!

Sickle Cell : SHIT! A black kid that looked white because his hemoglobin was basically non-existant...eeeeeek!....get blood here to transfuse stat! Veins were shut down so a super-difficult stick. I fucking need a beer when I get home! That kid worked my last nerve...I swear this is why I am losing my hair.

All in all a good night. Two nights off and a birthday/pool party to attend tonight, yay!

Now where was that beer?

It shunts fluid from one part of the body to another. Usually for kids that have too much brain fluid - it drains out into the abdomen.

I'm 4 weeks into Emergency, and ending up doing a lot of Paeds Emergency. It rocks, but damn, it's exhausting, isn't it?
