This evening started off odd.

The bus that I ride to my building for work was odd.

When the people entering the bus.........about 5 people passed me by on a full bus. I guess people don't wanna sit next to me, even from the many years from elementry school.

Maybe one day I will be goodlooking.

*sigh*

You are good looking enough!
What happens is that people are afraid of the bears...

it's cutthroat getting a seat at all on the busses to work here.

And besides, I'd sit next to you any day of the week.

I find the same thing happens to me - it's just cos we're broad and chunky, so people don't fancy sitting on the marginal bit of space left next to us. Also, consider this - you can't sit and stare at the good looking ones if you go and sit NEXT to them...much better to sit somewhere BEHIND, where you can have a damn good perv!! ;D There, my bus riding habits are out for the world to see. Heh.

Though there's no doubt truth in what [livejournal.com profile] yorkieboy says, I'll point out that I'm not very broad or chunky (or bad-looking) and people still won't sit next to me. I ride the bus and the el regularly and I often see people stand rather than take the empty seat next to me--which is usually there after all the other seats are filled.

I used to take it personally. Then I tried to figure out if I somehow came off as threatening in my appearance or body language. Now I've concluded that people just plain act odd, particularly when they're forced into close company with people they don't know.

Actually, I've been fascinated by the psychology of choosing seating in buses for a long time. And basically, people will almost always head to the back because there's a chance that there's a seat that no-one is sitting in that you can't see until you get there.

It's not you. It's the psychology of buses. Sit in the very back on a bus - you'll see it happening.
