last night was painful...

too many people with no primary care physicans wanting a McHappyHealtcareTM Visit

bitching about he length of wait time ( 5 hours )

basically alotta of snotty noses with dumb or ignorant parents thinking snot = 911 !

had a mother called 911 because she didn't have a ride (AND since it is against policy for DFD to deny pediatric transports)

she rolls in thinking she is going to be seen STAT cuz she called 911 for her 3yo with a snotty nose...

WRONG

she was quick reg'd and sent immediatly to triage....line up for that 5 hour wait BITCH!

not a single REAL sick kiddo

all crap, that in my day of childhood, NONE of our parents would have been caught dead in an ER for...

Note to parents...

Your child is not a mini-god, no matter how much you may think he or she is. Please get out of the way for people who actually need help. Or here's a thought--EDUCATE yourself on what constitutes the need to make a possible doctor visit instead of wasting everybody else's time. And I'm sure your kid loves being dragged around to, knucklehead.

There. Hope I was angry enough for you. I hate people who abuse the system. They need to get a wet washcloth upside the head.

I agree. Parents over-react, but...

I think the news media is partially to blame here. They've bombarded us with pictures of flu shot lines and statistics about flu-related deaths.

I have to agree with you as well. Sadly, the media uses tragic isolated cases to cause fear. Where I live, a local 3 year old died due to the flu but it doesn't mean if your kid has a runny nose, he's gonna die too. The poor thing was amongst one of those isolated cases.

Clint, you've been blessed with a lot of patience. I also want to wish you a Happy New Year!! Take care man. :o)

I think that most of this is caused by the physicians. Every physician's office I have called last year had the message "If this is a medical emergency, hang up and dial 9-1-1," on their phone greeting.

IMHO I think we need more Urgent Care/Walk-in medical offices that are open extended hours. This would alleviate the 9-1-1 and emergency rooms, however, since these would be private, for-profit operations, they would not have to accept un-insured patients.

It's strange that things have changed so much. I know my parents didn't take any of us kids to the ER unless there was blood and/or unconsciousness involved.

media media media. I agree, we watch any news and they sensationalize it to the point that everyone must immediately report to the doctor for fear of dieing in minutes if they don't. Plus when most parents are off working for the bigger house or the new boat or the (read anything that isn't really necessary but that media and corporate whores have told us that we must have to be fulfilled) instead of being home or spending much time with their children, they'd know that fevers and sniffles are the common fair of children and kind of an everyday thing and nothing to let the media freak them out about to the point of DEMANDING to see a doctor NOW.

to a point

I won't go into my reasons to why each type of culture visits the ER

people thinks it is racist but for me it is trend analysis
