Ramen noodles...the incredibly, (almost) inedibly food.
Date: 2004-01-27 08:22 am (UTC)I was working for just over minimum wage, and had a BEAUTIFUL apartment. Stained glass, bay windows, in a historic district.
Well, back to the reason I'm writing this.
I was usually so poor that I ate around noon in my apartment and made do with that one meal a day, just BEFORE I headed into work. Almost every meal consisted of Chicken/Mushroom ramen noodles. The one paycheck gave me about $50.00 extra in my pocket, so I headed down to the local Wilson Farms and got myself some pre-packaged chicken based nuggets. I thought, have some of those, have it with a ramen noodle, and be fully satisfied.
I was halfway through eating my dinner, and became violently nauseous. I found myself calling off sick because I was in the bathroom the balance of the afternoon.
So to this day, I pretty much avoid pre-packaged chicken nuggets, and for the most part steer away from ramen. Looking at either of them give me immediate flashbacks to that afternoon.
*groan*
