Ambien is the real deal. I took it for a while several years ago, and it worked like nothing else ever had. You can really feel it kicking in and dragging you down into sleep. Definitely not to be toyed with.
I totally agree. The first time I took one, I sat at my computer desk and chatted for 20 minutes or so. Then I knocked my trackball off in the floor (it broke. :-\), and fumbled with it trying to pick it up. So I figured I'd get up and brush my teeth and go to bed. At that point I realised I had no knees!
Ambien (Zolpidem tartrate) is a reasonable, choice, but have you ever heard of Zopiclone (called Imovane in Australia)? It's a non-benzodiazepene sedative, and it's reasonably short half-life drug. Has a clinical profile close to the benzos, but it's not a benzo.
i would recommend Simply Sleep as well. Its a J&J product, the same sedative that they put in Tylenol PM only without the Acetaminophen. Its gentle and effective. Okay, I sound like an ad.
