Even if businesses manage to stay open, travel is going to be all screwed up. In July it was screwed up for me in New Orleans even though Hurricane Dennis hit Florida!

yeah, David and I are going to call and cancel our reservations. Swells are reported to be around 10' so at least the streets will get a good washing. Think of the money we will save.

well, yes, the storm will be gone by then. However, they are saying this storm will produce 16 - 20' swells inland. Considering the levies they have built around the city to keep the water out from the Mississippi and Lake Ponchatrain are good for 14' swells and the city is below sea level, when the swells go over the levies, there is no place for the water to go. They have been dreading this "perfect scenario" for years.

Call and cancel you hotel reservations now so that you don't get charged. Don't wait until it's too late.

If you're with a national chain. If anyone has reservations at a local hotel or B&B, they may not have phones Tuesday.
